Advocacy and Legislation
It is imperative to support policy changes in an effort to create longevity in suicide prevention efforts. Legislative advocacy is a powerful way to turn awareness and grief into action, especially for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
During the 2010 Legislative Session, the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention will propose legislation that adds suicide prevention education to the list of options that school personnel have when choosing how to fulfill their in-service training. There is no fiscal impact and it does not mandate any training.
