Annual Reports
Each year, Florida loses thousands of its citizens to suicide. Each day, six people die by their own hand in this state. In May 2007, the Florida Legislature and Governor Charlie Crist answered the call for help by passing a law creating the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention to address this complex yet preventable public health problem.
These are the annual reports submitted by the Office of Suicide Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Coordinating Council. They describe the status of existing and planned initiatives identified in the statewide plan for suicide prevention and recommendations to the Legislature on what is still needed to help reduce Florida’s suicide rate.
